Congratulations to our own Pat Craft
Pat Craft received a second place ribbon for her entry in the mixed media category at the 32nd Annual Texas and Neighbors Regional Art Exhibition in Irving, Texas on April 30th.
Her 24 x 30 piece, titled 'Divine Intervention' was an acrylic, tissue paper collage of the Madonna and Child on canvas. This year, 230 artists entered 585 pieces of art. The juror, Michael Holter, narrowed the selections down to just 75 paintings in 5 categories. The entries represented art work from Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and New Mexico.
After the awards ceremony where Pat received a 2nd place ribbon and check Pat was honored once more. Each year floral artists from the 'Chocolate Rose' select art to honor by creating florals as a tribute. Ted Bruehl ADID created a beautiful floral as his interpretation of 'Divine Intervention'.
We are honored to be so fitly represented by the most talented Pat Craft.
Oil and Acrylic Classes by Barbara Haviland
Our own Barbara Haviland is geared up to whet your creative spirit with a series of classes teaching fundamentals of painting in oil and acrylic. The classes are going to continue monthlyuntil further notice on Fridays, Creative Arts Center at ALA Gallery by the Lake.
Barbara said class activity will begin with fundamentals of painting flowers and “go from there” depending on student goals. Students should be prepared to bring basics paints, brushes and surfaces. The suggested supply list will be provided through request at the gallery. A seasoned teacher, Barbara says she will work with whatever level her students require.
Barbara’s flower and landscape paintings are highly collected around the country. She paints daily and often from life (but also from photographs) as Plein Air painting is becoming her most favorite response to creating the beauty around her. She says painting is a wonderful way to relax and is gratifying way to express your own sense of beauty.
Cost for each month is $75. Call the gallery to save your place. Leave a number and Barbara will contact you to discuss the class.
