LINDA GLEASON RITCHIE
My love of video and photography surfaced almost thirty years ago. It was my way of capturing special moments to share it with others. That, as far as I knew was my only artistic talent. In 2007, my dearest friend and I began to study virtual oil painting, also referred to as digital painting. uncovering a God-given talent that has been both exciting and gratifying. With the help and encouragement of my friends and family, I continue to evolve.
My work begins with a photo or a collection of photos to create a beautiful almost lifelike portrait or scene using a tablet and stylus in place of a brush and palette. The entire process takes anywhere from a few hours to several weeks of work, which produces an end effect being that of an (virtual/digital) oil painting. The image is then printed on canvas and sometimes embellished even more with oil before it is sealed. Then a portrait, which can be cherished for many lifetimes, is presented to my client.
